More on Meal Temperatures
Dear Clients, June 4,2012 We at Meals on Wheels are concerned about your welfare in whatever we do. Lately, we have been concerned about the requirements of the State of Maryland and Montgomery County that hot and cold meals are at certain temperatures to be healthful to you. We know that as we have been working with the vendor, it has been disconcerting to you that the meals have been hot, then cold and now frozen. We also know that this has been hard for you to adapt to and that it is generally unsatisfactory for you. However, right now the dinner meal is at an acceptable temperature for the government agencies. We think that delivering the mealsfrozen for some of you, actually puts you in harm‘s way more than delivering a hot meal that isn’t really hot enough. Leaving the frozen meal out to thaw and warm to room temperature is unhealthful. If there is something that we can do to help you heat the meal, please let us know. We feel the meals should be hot when delivered to you and we will try to find a way to do that and also comply with the health department. But for now we must comply with the health department. We hope this doesn’t inconvenience you too much. Colesville Meals on Wheels |
Meal Temperatures
Dear Clients, Our meal provider has started to prepare your dinner meal so that it is refrigerated instead of hot. The reason for this is to be able to maintain it at a healthful temperature until it reaches you. To heat this meal: In the microwave:
In conventional oven:
We will be monitoring the temperatures and your reactions to this new preparation for two weeks. Please let us know how you feel about this change. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Colesville Meals On Wheels |
Hot Meal Containers
August 22, 2011 We have had questions regarding the new hot meal containers. They can be heated in the microwave. They can also be heated ln a regular oven set No Higher than 350 degrees Fahrenheit. We are hoping these new containers will keep the food hotter and eliminate spills. Meals can also be frozen as delivered. We also need to remind everyone that when you cancel meals for two or more days, you must call the Office to have delivery start again. You can call and speak to someone in the office or leave a message anytime before 9:45 AM, the day you want to restart. |
Meal Cancellation Policy
