More on Meal Temperatures

Dear Clients, June 4,2012

We at Meals on Wheels are concerned about your welfare in whatever

we do. Lately, we have been concerned about the requirements of the

State of Maryland and Montgomery County that hot and cold meals are

at certain temperatures to be healthful to you. We know that as we have

been working with the vendor, it has been disconcerting to you that the

meals have been hot, then cold and now frozen. We also know that this

has been hard for you to adapt to and that it is generally unsatisfactory

for you. However, right now the dinner meal is at an acceptable

temperature for the government agencies.

We think that delivering the mealsfrozen for some of you, actually puts

you in harm‘s way more than delivering a hot meal that isn’t really hot

enough. Leaving the frozen meal out to thaw and warm to room

temperature is unhealthful. If there is something that we can do to help

you heat the meal, please let us know.

We feel the meals should be hot when delivered to you and we will try

to find a way to do that and also comply with the health department. But

for now we must comply with the health department. We hope this

doesn’t inconvenience you too much.
